I love lists of people's favourite books so I thought we would have a little chat about what books you love the most and see if we can share some inspirational and/or brilliant unputdownable reads. I found this very hard and I may have to change this list again and again, because after all, some days you like a book more than other days. But overall I can hand on heart say I love these books. These are the books that I can re-read often and I don't as a rule like to re-read a book - there are too many out there yet to be read! What I see from this list is that I clearly like women writers! I also like journeys and I like books set in Africa or Ireland! They are not in any order of preference. What do you think? Any you hated, any books you think I should take off and put on another choice?! I could have written a list of 100 so it was tough. But I love these books and so I am happy with my list.
1. The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.
2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
3. Stoner by John Williams.
4. Are you somebody? by Nuala O'Faolain.
5. The Goldfinch by Donna Tart.
6. Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh.
7. The Scotland Street Series by Alexander McCall Smith.
8. Don't lets go to the dogs tonight by Alexandra Fuller.
9. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
10.Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier.
